ACROSS AFRICA — The African creative industry is set to celebrate the often-overlooked professionals behind some of the continent's biggest film and television productions with the launch of the 2026 Pan-African Behind-the-Scenes Honors Award.
Held under the theme “Honouring the Vision, Celebrating the Crew,” the initiative seeks to recognise the technical professionals whose skills and creativity contribute significantly to the success of African productions.
The awards will spotlight talents including cinematographers, sound engineers, editors, lighting specialists, production designers and other members of production crews working across Africa's rapidly expanding entertainment industry.
Organisers say the initiative is intended to shift greater attention toward the professionals who work behind the camera and whose contributions are often less visible to audiences.
Africa's film and television industries have experienced significant growth in recent years, with productions increasingly reaching audiences beyond the continent through cinemas, television networks and streaming platforms.
The organisers believe recognising technical and creative professionals will encourage higher standards, promote professional development and inspire a new generation of African production talent.
