KINSHASA — The Democratic Republic of Congo has announced a major conservation initiative involving the establishment of a new protected rainforest zone in the Congo Basin.
The programme is being implemented in partnership with international climate organisations and is expected to unlock millions of dollars in carbon-credit funding.
The resources will support local community development and strengthen efforts to combat illegal activities and poaching within the protected rainforest area.
The initiative highlights the growing importance of the Congo Basin in global climate and environmental discussions.
