JOHANNESBURG — South Africa's electricity sector is receiving additional renewable-energy capacity after Eskom integrated three large-scale solar and wind projects into the national grid.
The projects are supported by grid-scale battery storage technology designed to improve electricity management and reliability.
The expansion is expected to provide additional relief to the country's power system while supporting a gradual transition away from ageing coal infrastructure.
The development forms part of South Africa's wider push to diversify its electricity generation mix and strengthen the national grid.
