CAIRO — Egypt is strengthening its position as a major digital connection point between Africa, Europe and the Middle East following the reported completion of a next-generation subsea internet backbone by Telecom Egypt.
The upgraded fibre-optic infrastructure is expected to increase connectivity capacity and improve digital services across the country.
The project could also reinforce Egypt's role as a major digital transit hub linking different regions through high-capacity internet infrastructure.
Improved connectivity is expected to support e-government services and contribute to the country's broader digital transformation.
